My own story!
|

As a child, I was fascinated with the Book Makers at
the bottom of our road. I daydreamed over the magical work going on
behind the darkened windows to bring great stories to us
kids…
My
enlightenment over what really went on behind the Book Makers’ window
did
little to dampen my fascination with the power of words. I studied Communications, at Goldsmiths, majored in journalism, landed a job as a
reporter, and then decided that crime reporting wasn’t for me.
I was more at home writing inspirational
features about people who did positive things and creating PR opportunities by
finding the story behind the story (as we know, journalists aren’t interested
in a story that cannot be dug up!).
Since
then I've moved between various journalism and PR roles, and taught
journalism to undergraduates at Goldsmiths and the LCP. I worked as
deputy editor of a magazine for people with multiple sclerosis, as
editorial director of an education magazine for parents, then was
offered a job as regional PR manager for Barnado’s. Today I use my experience and knowledge to
help businesses communicate more effectively by finding marvelous ways to use their
Words with greater FX. |

I have always found her an efficient, reliable and committed colleague. She has good ideas and the tenacity to see them through even in a challenging economic climate." Susan Elkin MA, MCIJ, Journalist and education author: books, columns and features
"I
have worked with Denise on several education and parenting issues over
the last four years. Her own story is an inspiration to many other
women. Her experience of combining motherhood, education and starting
her own business lie at the heart of her ability to communicate with,
and inspire confidence in others through her magazines and websites." Fiona Millar, Education Journalist and Broadcaster

"I
have no hesitation in recommending Denise Roberts for the above work
which she has always produced for us to a high standard and in a
professional manner! You will be pleased you worked with this creative
editor!" Jacqueline Peart, Director, TWPI "I
have known and worked with Denise Roberts for the last 3/4 years.
During that time I have always found her to be a person of the highest
moral character, as well as being hard working, efficient and good fun
to work with. She has excellent managerial and leadership qualities,
whilst always being that most delightful of colleagues, a true team
player." Chris Davies, CEO, Duceni Digital

| | | "I very much admired Denise Roberts' work on My Child – she created a first-class magazine, and persuaded many highly-respected people to write for her. I think that was because of her in-depth knowledge about childhood and education. And, of course, her own personality!" Sue Palmer, educationalist, broadcaster, writer and author of Toxic Childhood (Orion 2006) and Detoxing Childhood (Orion 2007) |
